Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy Treatment - Holistic Therapy DublinAromatherapy massage is the practice of using  natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to treat imbalances and to enhance psychological and physical well-being.

The inhaled aroma from these “essential” oils is widely believed to stimulate brain function.

Essential oils can also be absorbed through the skin, where they travel through the bloodstream and can promote whole-body healing.

A form of complementary medicine, aromatherapy massage is gaining more and more recognition. It is used for a variety of applications, including pain relief, mood enhancement and increased cognitive function and can help alleviate the symptoms of digestive problems, eczema, headaches, insomnia and stress.

Aromatherapy oils

There are a wide number of essential oils available, each with its own special and therapeutic properties:

  • Peppermint – digestive disorders
  • Rosemary – muscular pains, mental stimulant
  • Sandalwood – depression, anxiety and nervous tension
  • Sweet orange – depression and anxiety
  • Tea tree – respiratory problems, anti-fungal, antibacterial and antiviral
  • Lavender – headaches, insomnia, burns, aches and pains

Please note that some oils should not be used in pregnancy and it is not recommended to use any oils before going into the sun. The essential oils should also be never used undiluted. Margaret will advise what oils are best suited for you and how to use them during your initial consultation.

Aromatherapy oils also have other uses. For instance Citronella oil is an effective mosquito repellent, other essential oils can be used  in making home made lotions, soaps, candles and perfumes.

Testimonials

“I recently went to see Margaret with neck tension and headaches, hoping that craniosacral therapy would make me feel better and more positive.

Margaret thoroughly explained what she was doing having listened to my concerns with respect. Tension quickly eased and I immediately felt refreshed and relaxed. The tension headaches have finally disappeared”.
